**Day 1 : Kobe – Embarkation**
Your journey starts in the coastal city of Kobe, located on the main island of Honshu. Famed for its renowned Kobe beef, the city also features a Maritime Museum, Meriken Park and the forests of Mount Rokko National Park, long frequented by Shinto monks and a symbol of the city. Boarding will take place in the afternoon (time to be confirmed).
**Day 2 : Inujima**
This morning you disembark on a Zodiac excursion to the charming island of Inujima, where traditional wooden houses stand against a backdrop of the beautiful Seto Inland Sea. Inujima was famous for its high-quality granite, and in the olden days it was used to build the stone walls of Edo Castle, Osaka Castle, and Okayama Castle.
As part of your half-day sightseeing you will get a glimpse of the past and visit the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum and admire the incredible architecture and artwork. Continue your tour through the Art House Project, where contemporary art meets architecture, history and panoramic views.
**Day 3 : Mitarai**
After disembarking on a Zodiac you will enjoy a half-day sightseeing of this charming fishing village located to the east of Osaki Shimojima Island, on the edge of the Seto Inland Sea. Your tour will take you back in time to the Edo Period, where the hustle and bustle of modern cities is replaced by the gentle sound of fishing boats. In 1994, the Japanese government designated the old town a Preservation District to protect its 19th-century wooden houses, historic sanctuaries, and the ancient “gangi” stone stairs leading to the sea.
Walk along the old merchant street before enjoying a special live performance of Japanese court music (gagaku) and Japanese harp (koto). It’s a place where music and history intertwine, offering a deep dive into the richness of local culture.
**Day 4 : Miyajima**
At the heart of the Seto Inland Sea is Miyajima, home to the Shinto Grand Sanctuary, whose entrance is guarded by a magnificent vermillion torii (gate). Considered to be one of the most beautiful sites on the Japanese islands, you will be transported by the unique character and the serenity of this sacred site.
Arrive at Miyajima by tender boat to explore the 6th century Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while enjoying scenery that changes with the tides. You will have time to enjoy the serenity of this island woven with divinity, Buddhism, the sea and mountains. Also visit the Island’s oldest temple and try meditation, with stunning views over the Seto Inland Sea.
**Day 5 : Hagi**
Today land by Zodiac in Hagi, a castle town of the Mori clan that flourished during the Edo period, and even today, the original town layout and samurai residences remain intact. In the south of Honshu, surrounded by mountains, Hagi was built on the delta of the Abu-gawa river. The old town here was one of the cradles of the Meiji Revolution.
Visit Hagi Meirin Gakusha, once a clan school, and the largest wooden school building in Japan. Here you will learn about the Hagi clan’s education system and the history of soldiers from the late Edo period.
Later stroll through the remains of the 17th century Hagi Castle, Shigetsu Park, and the Old Town streets with their well-preserved samurai residences. End your day enjoying fresh seafood and local produce at the Hagi Seamart.
**Day 6 : Tsushima**
Arrive by Zodiac boat for a unique approach to the Watazumi seaside shrine and a half-day tour. Located between Japan and South Korea, Tsushima is an island rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. For centuries, it has served as a bridge between Japan and the Asian continent, playing a key role in trade, diplomacy, and defence. This island is 90% covered by forests, home to the rare Tsushima leopard cat and a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.
After exploring the Watazumi shrine and enjoying its tranquil atmosphere you will return to the Zodiac and cruise around Aso Bay, where you can admire clear waters and the green lush landscape.
Next you will visit Izuhara Hachimangu Shrine, Banshoin Temple, and the Tsushima Museum. Explore at your own pace the historic atmosphere and cultural heritage of Tsushima’s central town.
**Day 7 : Busan (South Korea)**
With around four million inhabitants, Busan is the second largest metropolis in South Korea, after Seoul. This dynamic harbour city, located in the south-east, is surrounded by the warm waters of the Sea of Japan, benefiting from a mild, pleasant climate.
Enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour including a visit to the seaside temple of Haedong Yonggungsa and the panoramic views from Yongdusan Park. Also visit Gamcheon Cultural Village with its colourful hillside houses and maze-like alleys. Later in Songdo Skywalk the brave ones can walk the glass-floored seaside path or ride a gondola over the sea with stunning views.
Taste ultra-fresh seafood and delicious street food while strolling through the stalls of local markets. Spicy local foods and a down-to-earth energy make these markets an ideal place to experience authentic Korean flavours.
**Day 8 : Nagasaki**
Nagasaki served as Japan’s sole gateway to the West during the Edo period through Dejima and later became a symbol of peace after the devastation of the atomic bomb in 1945. Stroll through merchant houses and learn about Nagasaki’s Dutch influence and rich traditions. With beautiful cityscapes and a deep history, Nagasaki offers emotionally resonant stories and scenes. A visit to the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Park will give you insight into the extent of the damage caused by the nuclear attack. You will have time to reflect on history and the value of peace.
**Day 9 : Yakushima**
Today you will explore Yakushima Island, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, home to vast ancient forests. Your half-day tour will take you to the mystical and ancient parts of the Yakusugi cedar forest, surrounded by lush moss and clear streams (this experience can be tailored to suit any fitness level). Immerse yourself in nature while exploring one of the various walks in this picturesque place.
**Day 10 : Koshikijima Island**
Off the western coastline of Kagoshima Prefecture, Koshikijima Island is renowned for its towering cliffs, untouched natural beauty, and historic townscapes lined with preserved samurai residences. Upon your arrival by Zodiac enjoy a warm welcome with traditional dances and tastings of local specialties. Wander through streets lined with traditional samurai residences and old stone walls, set amidst lush greenery. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and timeless scenery. Take in stunning views of dramatic cliffs and the deep blue sea from scenic spots like Torinosu Observatory and Nagamenohama Observatory.
**Day 11 : Iki**
A lush islet between Fukuoka Bay and the captivating island of Tsushima, Iki is a real paradise on earth. The island is steeped in history and spirituality, with ruins from the Yayoi period, ancient tombs, and countless shrines. Enjoy fresh seafood and Iki beef while immersing yourself in the island’s nature, history, and culinary culture. Visit the Ikikoku Museum and see various artifacts and interactive exhibits that help tell the fascinating history of this place.
Next you will take a short boat ride from Katsumoto Port in northern Iki, and stop on Tatsunoshima Island. An uninhabited paradise with untouched nature, emerald-green seas, white beaches, and dramatic sea cliffs. Once ashore, enjoy the crystal-clear waters and tranquil sands. A scenic walking path offers panoramic views.
**Day 12 : Amakusa**
Facing the mythical island of Kyushu, between the Yatsushiro and Ariake seas, the island region of Amakusa both surprises and captivates. Composed of some one hundred verdant islets surrounded by stunning seabeds, the Japanese archipelago was once a refuge for many Christians fleeing the ban on Catholicism in the 17th century during the Edo period. Christian heritage can be found in every village in the region. In Sakitsu, a charming fishing port, immerse yourself in this Christian heritage, particularly when you visit the emblematic church listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
**Day 13 : Kumamoto**
Your journey ends in Kumamoto, known as a land of rich history, stunning nature, and delicious local cuisine in the heart of Kyushu. From Kumamoto Castle and Mount Aso to hot springs and gourmet delights, this region offers an unforgettable travel experience.
