In January 2025, I had the pleasure of experiencing a short but unforgettable voyage aboard Silver Nova, one of the newest additions to the Silversea fleet. Sailing from Auckland to Wellington, our itinerary included stops in Tauranga, Gisborne, and Napier—with an overnight stay in Hawke’s Bay that allowed ample time to explore its renowned wineries. As a passionate foodie, the highlight of the voyage was undoubtedly the dining. With eight signature restaurants to choose from, each meal was a celebration of flavour and finesse. One standout experience was the Chef’s Table at S.A.L.T., where we enjoyed an 11-course tasting menu showcasing Australia’s finest local ingredients.
Dining at La Dame, with its exquisite French cuisine and expertly curated wine pairings guided by the sommelier, was another highlight. While two of the restaurants carry a dining fee, the elevated experience and ambience made them well worth it.
We also immersed ourselves in the culinary world through a cocktail-making class and a hands-on cooking session in the S.A.L.T. Lab—both entertaining and educational, perfect for budding chefs and mixologists alike.
Elegant Suites & Refined Comfort
Our suite was a sanctuary of comfort and elegance—beautifully appointed, spacious, and ideal for unwinding after a day of exploration. In-suite breakfasts became a cherished ritual, offering a peaceful start to each day with panoramic ocean views.
A Sophisticated Yet Welcoming Atmosphere
The onboard atmosphere was sophisticated but never pretentious. The average age of guests on our sailing was late 50s, slightly younger than expected, which added a vibrant energy to the experience. Every detail, from the décor to the service, was thoughtfully curated to deliver a world-class luxury cruise
