Winterless North

Welcome to Island Paradise! A visit to the Bay of Islands offers stunning scenery, golden beaches and charming towns. With over 144 islands, there is an endless array of activities and attractions with great options for dining too.

On the coast, you have Paihia and Waitangi where you can find most of the water-based activities. Across the water from Paihia is Russell, New Zealand's first colonial capital which is steeped in history. Inland are the towns of Kerikeri, Kawakawa, Kaikohe and Kaeo.

For adventure seekers, there is such a range of outdoor activities and natural attractions. From cruising to the famous Hole in the Rock, swimming with dolphins, kayaking to waterfalls, sailing, scuba diving or playing a round of golf.

For history buffs, you must not miss the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Go on a journey of discovery through our most important historic site, where in 1940 New Zealand’s founding document was signed: the Treaty of Waitangi. Another hotspot is the iconic Duke of Marlborough Hotel, built in 1827 and located right on the waterfront of the historic village of Russell.
