**Day 2: Muscat**
After breakfast, visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Oman’s largest mosque, and the traditional market of Mutrah Souq. Bait al Zubair Museum offers a great overview of Oman’s culture and history, then there’s a photo stop at Al Alam Palace, the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, along with two 16th century Portuguese forts.

**Day 3: Muscat > Al Hamra > Misfah > Bahla > Nizwa**
En route to Nizwa, the cultural capital of Oman, the first stop today is at Al Hamra, an ancient village at the foot of the Hajar Mountains, with well-preservedtwo- and three-storied mud-brick houses built in Yemeni style. Next, visit Misfat al Abriyeen, a unique mountain village boasting amazing agricultural terraces, beautiful alleys, and old houses built on top of solid rocks. Keep driving to Jabal Shams, the highest mountain in Oman, for views of the spectacular Al Nakhar Canyon. Continue the drive and visit Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and beautiful Jabreen Castle, once the ruler’s summer palace. Overnight in Nizwa.

**Day 4: Nizwa > Sinaw > Sharqiya Sands**
Today’s first stop on the way back to Muscat will be Sinaw Souq, a traditional marketplace arranged around a central courtyard, attracting large numbers of Bedouin who trade livestock for modern commodities. Local women wearing bronze masks and transparent gauzy Abayas (full-length robe-like dress) add to the spectacle. Just before Eid (Islamic feast) the center of town comes to a virtual standstill as camels are loaded onto pick-up trucks and goats are bartered across the street. Keep driving to Wadi Bani Khalid,
a beautiful oasis in the middle of arid mountains. One of the most beautiful wadis in Oman with its clear deep blue water pools, there is the opportunity to take a refreshing dip. Continue to Sharqiya Sands, an ocean of regular dunes that seem to stretch out endlessly. Embark on a desert safari over golden sand dunes to visit a Bedouin family and see the sun set on the dunes. Overnight in a desert camp in Wahiba Sands.

**Day 5: Sharqiya Sands > Sur > Muscat**
Depart from the camp after breakfast this morning and drive to Muscat via the scenic coastal route. First stop is the ruins of Bibi Miriam’s Tomb in the village of Qalhat. Continue to Wadi Shab with the opportunity to walk to a fresh water pool. Later visit Bimmah Sinkhole with its turquoise mix of fresh and salt water. Continue to Muscat and check in to your hotel.
